The CLOUD represent 83% OF GLOBAL TRAFFIC DATA CENTER IN 2019

The global cloud traffic will multiply by four the next five years, reaching a total of 6.6 annual zettabytes (719 exabytes per month) at the end of 2019, up from 2.1 zettabytes registered in 2014, corresponding to a rate of YoY growth of 33%.

This is the main conclusion of the annual Cisco Global Cloud Index (2014-2019), which also reveals that the global data center traffic (traffic traveling in the data center, between data centers and to the end user) will triple over the same period , reaching a total of 10.4 annual zettabytes in 2019. In 2014, this figure stood at 3.4 zettabytes, corresponding to a YoY growth of 25%.

Several factors are accelerating the growth of Cloud traffic and the transition to cloud services, including greater demand for personal storage capacity in the cloud due to the exponential increase in mobile devices, the increasing use of public cloud services by enterprises, most virtualization private Cloud environments and the proliferation of connections Machine-to-Machine (M2M) in the new era of Internet of Everything (IOE).

Subsequently, Cisco predicts that the IOE - connecting people, processes and objects - will play a crucial role in the growth of the center and Cloud data traffic. The Cloud applications will generate data volumes that will reach the annual zettabytes 507.5 (42.3 monthly zettabytes) in 2019, compared to 134.5 annual zettabytes (11.2 monthly ZB) recorded in 2014.

Multiply by 49 the global data center traffic forecast for 2019 (10.4 ZB). For example, a smart city with a million inhabitants will generate 180 million Gigabytes of data daily in 2019.
